Oh Well, That’s Just Grate…

Need a Way Out?!

Do the building codes in your area require residential basements to have an escape window? If the answer is yes, then you should be supplying the contractors in your area with SureBuilt window wells and accessories.

Window Wells allow air, sunlight and access to a basement or below-grade space by acting as a barrier to the surrounding backfill. Each corrugated well is made using 18-gauge galvanized steel for durability and corrosion resistance. The top and bottom edges are formed and rolled over to eliminate sharp edges and support a person standing on a ladder or grate.

HD Egress Ladders are designed for emergency situations. The ladder can be used to escape from the basement or as an access option for emergency personnel. The hooked ends of the ladder hang over the rim, supporting the ladder inside the well. IRC code requires ladders in wells deeper than 44”. The HD Egress Ladders are available in 4’, 5’ and 6’ heights.

Grates keep people and objects from falling into the well. The grate is made of rolled angle iron steel, and welded steel safety bars. Premium mesh grates are also available to keep leaves and other debris out of the well.

Bucks are positioned and braced in the forms before the concrete is poured. Each buck has four built-in form tie slots. A basement window is installed in the opening created by the window buck.
