New Taper Dowel for Slabs!
The diamond-shaped Taper Dowel is an engineered load transfer system for horizontal movement in concrete floors.
The Taper Dowel set includes a plastic void sleeve and dowel plate. The sleeve is nailed to the edge form before concrete placement. After the forms are removed, the dowel plate is inserted in each sleeve in preparation for the adjoining slab.
A properly installed Taper Dowel minimizes joint spalling, eliminates tripping hazards and improves joint filler appearance.
The Taper Dowel is recommended for joints up to 3/4” wide and is suitable for all types of ground level concrete floors, slabs or pavements:
- A unique plastic sleeve and steel plate, used in combination, creates an engineered load transfer doweling system for concrete flatwork.
- The flat diamond-shape provides maximum surface bearing, bending and punching resistance, without the slab interlock risk common with other methods.
- Acceptable method in accordance with ACI 302.1R Guide for Concrete Floor and Slab Construction and ACI 360 Design of Slabs-on-Ground.
